2000 – Oceanliner Museum
Description
History and actuality of liners: Saint-Nazaire is the birth city of ” France ” and many other prestigious liners. This is why the city hall decided to create a Museum, to pay tribute to them. But Saint-Nazaire also had to shelter German submarines during the last world war for which the Nazis built an enormous bunker in order to protect them. Remained indestructible and unused, the Mayor, bravely, decided to transform this tragic vestige into a cultural place. In this place, François Confino and François Seigneur shared out the two immense spaces they were allocated, one treated as the exterior of the liner, the” Grand Large ” and the other being the reconstitution the interior of the liner, from the engine room or the hold to the commander’s bridge, not forgetting the dining room, hairdressing salon or the many cabins. This is how the approach to the scenography, museography and architecture gave a very homogeneous staging concept.Maître d'ouvrage
